New scenery
Are you thinking about moving cross country with your kitties or fur baby and you don’t know how to do it? Well look no furrrrther- I had just experienced this on hand. I went to a local pet store before my 2,500+ cross journey from PNW to the beautiful East Coast, & here I will explain what I got to help.
- CBD Drops-
-Calming Collar from Petsmart, Petco-
-Calming diffuser -
to start with the journey, my partner & I purchased a kennel that measured out to my Jeep measurements. We realized having our kitten in the kennel, we would have to put the ragdoll in there also. So with it being big enough but not as big as I was hoping, one side I had converted into a bed next to a box
& the other side I converted into a nice cozy cave bed
We planned out our trip, the first two days being 8-9 hours where the 3rd day was 13 hours and the last day, was a quick 7 hour journey.
What I did was every 4.5-5.5 hours I would stop at rest Stops on the interstate and highways and I would put them on a harness and walk them out. My kitten is a little more cautious where my ragdoll is more curious so she was more out and about one side. We have a cat box for the five hours for one kitty and then we will switch and put the one that had the cat box in with the cave bed for the next four hours.
With the 13 hour car ride we would walk them 5.5-6 hour and then swap so they got their rounds with the cat box. Without being said by the end of the night, I would book something on Expedia and I would have something within the next hour or two driving distance to go stay at my favorite part of the trip was every time we got to the hotel we got to just kind of settled in and the kitties got to explore and have fun. They ended up becoming really attached to each other to the point where they were distracted with all the madness going on that they just had each other.
basically, every time before the car ride an hour before I would give a tiny little dosage to my kitties of CBD. My ragdoll was really smart and caught on quick and didn’t want any, but the kitten was food motivated so she didn’t mind it. I think that had a lot to do with helping make the car ride go really quick. What I can imagine that helped is that they were next to each other in the same kennel so that would bring ease knowing that they’re together. Whenever we got to the hotel, I would plug in the diffuser that helps make kitties calm by releasing pheromones and natural senses that keep the kitty’s nerves calm. It seemed like each day got easier and easier and overall the whole car ride trip. I only heard the cats cry maybe up to 5 to 7 times. It felt good knowing they are such good kitties with barely any training. Fast-forward and I arrived at my destination, and I can’t help but to buy a cat tree for them just to reward them for being such a good girls. Reward your kitties at all costs for being a good kitty.
